    Hi Siva,

    I have had something like that a long time ago.
    When you install a font on the server, special when it has to be used by adobe, the machine needs to be restarted.
    Did you try that?

    I am in exactly the same situation as SivaG: Free3of6 didn't work at all on the server. "IDAutomationHC39M" works for the BIRT viewer, but not when exporting / printing to PDF.

    We've restarted the server too with no change.

    Incidentally, "IDAutomationHC39M" was already installed on the server. We're not sure how it got there. Also, when I select View Report as PDF from within Eclipse, the bar codes print properly.

    Any other ideas?

    Hi Josh…

    The problem here is maximo application is not able to recognize bar code fonts while generating PDF view… it checks for the fonts defined at “fontsConfig.xml” in

    “org.eclipse.birt.report.engine.fonts_2.1.2.v20070205-1728.jar” file which is located in the following location

    <Maximo-Root>\applications\maximo\maximouiweb\webmodule\WEB-INF\birt\platform\plugins

    So to over come this problem define your fonts in “fontsConfig.xml” file then rebuild maximo.ear… it will works…

    Cheers,

    Hi Siva

    Can you show more about how to define new font IDAutomationHC39M for at “fontsConfig.xml”

    It is
    <mapping name="IDAutomationHC39M" font-family="IDAutomationHC39M" />
    or
    <path path="C:/windows/fonts/IDAutomationHC39M.TTF" />
    or
    <encoding font-family="IDAutomationHC39M" encoding="Cp1252" />

    I tried each of this and rebuilt maximo but the exporting pdf still not show the barcode.

    Thanks Siva

    Hi, I'm able to see the fonts in PDF output. But not in Maximo BIRT Report Viewer. Our's is Unix server. Once the report is run, barcodes are not displayed. But when I export report to PDF, barcodes are shown in PDF.

    I have added the font path in fontconfig.xml. only font path, not encodings, composite font, font family.

    Please give inputs, so that it will display in Maximo too. Let me know if I have to add other font tags too.

    Suresh.

    Here is an excellent barcode generator for Birt. I have been using it for years. It supports to create many types of linear and 2D barcodes, inlcuding Code 39. Share this good barcode resource with you.

    Barcode generator for Eclipse BIRT is what I've been using. No need to install any other barcode fonts again, this one generates most types of barcodes.

    The compatability is great.
