I have a requirement for a single page report that has three prompts on the same page as the report.
These three prompts cascade from one another. For example Prompt 1 -> Prompt 2 -> Prompt 3.
Due to nature of these prompts Prompt 1 and 2 are set to autosubmit and therefore when I select a value from Prompt 1 the report returns results.
Does anyone know if it is possible to prevent the report from refreshing and only cascade the prompt values until I have selected all the required prompt values? Prompts 2 and 3 must be optional prompts.
Any help appreciated I'm using 8.4

Re: Prevent report refresh whilst using cascading prompts2009-07-28T20:27:45Z in response to CognosjonI think you need to consider having a prompt page when using Cascading prompts. I can't think of any way (or, frankly, any reason) for Cognos to NOT refresh the data upon an auto-submitted prompt for in-page prompts.
Re: Prevent report refresh whilst using cascading prompts2009-07-29T03:58:51Z in response to SystemAdminI agree with Angela. I have a cube report with cascading prompts set to auto-submit because the users desire the report to auto refresh with new results as soon as they choose a prompt from any level in hierarchy. If you don't want this to happen then you could perhaps try using a Tree Prompt on the report page instead of cascading Value Prompts. You would also need to add a 'Prompt Button' from the Tool box and set the Type to 'Finish'.

Re: Prevent report refresh whilst using cascading prompts2009-10-15T21:45:34Z in response to CognosjonHi,
set the autosubmit property to 'NO'. If you want to select multiple values from a single prompt auto submit wont work for cascading. U have to add another button called reprompt. select the values from the first prompt then click reprompt it will load the prompt2 values from there u can select the values.. and repeat the same step of reprompt. when u select the values from the third promt then u need to submit the report. i think it this info may help you.

Re: Prevent report refresh whilst using cascading prompts2009-10-22T20:41:36Z in response to CognosjonHi ,
this is fairly simple if you use conditinal formatting
First create a boolean variable which has your last prompt value to null ( paramdisplayvalue(parameter3) is null))
set the entire report to box type 'none' when yes and 'default' when 'No'.
this will ensure that the report is not displayed unless the last prompt is picked.
