Pinned topic Setting up IPIC protocol in TXSeries (Channels/Containers)

‏2009-07-27T12:12:03Z |
We are trying to set up an IPIC connection between CTG 7.2 and TXSeries 7.1. I am using a sample program from Phil Walelin of IBM and have managed to get his application working between CTG and TS 3.2 but am strugling with TXSeries.

Here is what I have done.

Setup IPIC server connection in ctg.ini
Setup listener in TXSeries using the IPIC protocol
Setup CD entry in TXSeries (though unsure if this is required for this. Manuals seem to contradict themselves)
Run the java program that sucessfully invokes the cobol program in CICS and I have traced that program and it is running sucessfully, though I am getting

27/07/09 13:06:55:806 Starting EciChanTest with JVM encodingISO8859-1
27/07/09 13:06:56:086 Connection to Gateway tcp://10.0.72.152:2006 opened
27/07/09 13:06:56:215 SendingCTGCHANNEL to programECICHAN on CICSIIS1IPIC with containerINPUTDATA using CCSID819
27/07/09 13:06:56:215 ECI request failed: RC = ECI_ERR_SYSTEM_ERROR(-9)

In the TXSeries console log I see

ERZ127035I/0170 07/27/09 13:06:56.296193742 CICSIIS1 606388/0013 : Getting ready to connect to the remote client with IP , Port -1
ERZ127037I/0171 07/27/09 13:06:56.296411090 CICSIIS1 606388/0013 : Not sending Capability Exchange request to Remote participant
I checked the errorcode but that implies lack of Task Private Storage, but that is running at 12M and I am the only one on this system..

Been looking at this for a few days now.. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks

Chris

    Hi Chris,

The TXSeries log message is as expected and could be ignored.
We need bit more information to diagnose the issue. Can you provide the following details
    1. If you are using one of the CTG sample programs provided as part of CTG Java samples, give us the details, so that we can try it out locally.
    2. Some details about the program which is running within the TXSeries region.
    3. Will it be possible to switch on the CTG trace, and give a bit more diagnostic information ?

    Thanks

Thanks for the prompt reply. Attached are the cobol/java programs used and here is the website I took the code from
    http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/websphere/library/techarticles/0810_wakelin/0810_wakelin.html

I will try one of the supplied progs also.

I do have a debug trace of CTG in which I can see an error message (AXTE). Is this what you would like to see? started via ctgstart -x -tfile /tmp/filename

Just to confirm I have implemented the supplied program EciB3/EC03.ccp and get the same error. I attach a debug trace for your reference of this run. If you search for AXTE you will get to where I think the error is starting.

I have application probe running in TXSeries and can see the application RESPcodes as 0 for each call to EC01.

    Hi,

Based on the inputs and programs given in your earlier post, we could re-create the issue.
Looks like this is an issue with the Product itself. You need to raise an issue with IBM support.

    Thanks.

    Got a reply from IBM

This problem is addressed in APAR#IZ54522. The customer can download
and install the latest Interim fix (Interim fix 2)on TXSeries 7.1
available on Fix Central to resolve this issue.

Instructions to download from Fix Central:
Go to www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral -> Select WebSphere as product
group -> TXSeries for Multiplatforms ->7.1.0.0 -> AIX and click on
continue and continue again on next page.

It will list 7.1.0.0-TXSeries-AIX-InterimServiceFix2 . They need to
    select that and download.

I have applied and this does fix the issue.
