Hi there, can vdisk be migrated between the mdiskgrps having different extent size?

Thanks in advance

You cannot migrate vdisks between mdiskgrps, where each mdisk group has a different extent size.

    So this is an issue.

But IBM brought out VDisk mirroring in 4.3 code which CAN mirror a vdisk between mdisk groups with different extent sizes.
So if you want to do a migration from small extent sizes to larger ones, upgrade your SVC code and then use vdisk mirroring to achieve this.

    Hi,

When I try to make vdisk mirror to copy of one the existing vdisk to anoter manage disk group to migrate the DS8000 data to XIV, I recieved the error CMMVC6350E "The command failed because there is insufficient mirror bitmap space". I checked io group info it shows that SVC io grp doesn't have available memory to allocate. How can I allocate memory to io grp to make the vdisk mirror funtion worked?
    #svcinfo lsiogrp 1
    id 1
    name io_grp1
    node_count 2
    vdisk_count 149
    host_count 78
    flash_copy_total_memory 20.0MB
    flash_copy_free_memory 19.8MB
    remote_copy_total_memory 20.0MB
    remote_copy_free_memory 20.0MB
    mirroring_total_memory 0.0MB
    mirroring_free_memory 0.0MB

    Thanks and Regards
