we have installed some rhel5U3-vio-client lpars on an E8A(p550). quite fine, BUT when we want to make dlpar operations (add cpu or memory) on these lpars , we get an error from HMC
HMC: HMCERRV3DLPAR020 AIX.DLPAR aix-dlpar operation on a cpu failed without throwing exception:
aix-command : drmgr -c cpu -a -q 25 -p ent_capacity -w 5 -d 1
We have installed following rpms on the clients
All services are running (lssrc -a), and on the hmc we see with $lspartition -dlpar that the client-lpar is "registered"
Is there a missing fileset (on HMC we see that it ist a linux-ppc-lpar, so why does HMC complain about aix-commands?)
Is adding cpu or memory not supported with rhel5u3?
thanks in advance for any help
best regards walter

Re: rhel5u3: vio-client-lpar: error when trying to add cpu/memory with dlpar2009-06-10T02:15:19ZThis is the accepted answer. This is the accepted answer.Hi to all:
The solution is to exactly install the rpms in the order IBM describes in
then there is no problem any more with dlpar-operations: cpu, mem, virt adapters and so on
