Pinned topic nmon analyzer Excel timeline out of order

‏2009-05-20T13:44:55Z |
Is anyone having an issue with all graph timelines? I take a nmon file that runs at 5 second intervals for an entire day. When I use the analyzer to convert to Excel all the graphs that have a timeline are all out of order. So starting on the left of the graph should be 00:00 moving in time to the right to 23:59. Well dispersed through out these graphs I have times earlier in time to the right of times later. For instance, 02:00 is to the right of 11:00.

Check the ZZZZ sheet - are the timestamps sorted correctly there?

Actually NO! It jumps from 1:23:17 to 13:53:29 just as one example. Is this the issue? If so is their a way to fix this?
      Thanks.

Well, are the timestamps in order? I mean, do you see
        T00001 hh:mm:ss
        T00002 hh:mm:ss

or are the "Tnnnnn" lines out of sequence? If so, if you sort the ZZZZ sheet in Excel do the timestamps come out right? All seems a bit odd.

You can send me the nmon file if you like and I'll take a look.

            I see the problem.

The timestamps are being generated incorrectly. T0999 should be T00999 in order to sort correctly.
Is this topasnmon you're using or nmon classic?

If it's topasnmon then you need to put in a call to IBM support.

I am using topas_nmon that comes with 5.3 TL 9. I will open a ticket.
              Thanks.

I've worked out a quick fix for my Excel 2007.

              1. With the latest 3.3g up to this moment, find the string "ZZZZ" in the macro editor. (Sorry that I'm not with an Excel right now.)
              2. There is a loop trying to calculate the timestamp column. There are 2 lines:
              a... = ... format(Tn, "0000")...
Change the format code "0000" to "00000"
              3. Save the changes.

This just pads an additional zero to the timestamp so that the sorting can work as expected.

The fix works for me to draw charts for merging 180 nmon files(96 readings each).

Could someone tell me if there is an update to this condition please.
                Using topas_nmon 12 with analyzer 3.3g and excel 2007.

Still getting date out of sequence on merged graph sets.

                Thanks

I have a fix but I haven't fully tested it - could you send your files to steve_atkins at uk.ibm.com and I'll get the fix to you if it all works.
