Pinned topic Why doesn't Access Studio's profile wizard handle Firefox?

‏2009-05-08T14:33:50Z |
I'm investigating using this rather clever wizard. But, I have found that after dragging the User name / Id thingy on to the Userid field in a logon page in Firefox (3.0), when I edit the signature and select Highlight control, it highlights the whole page.

In the signature script there is no mention of the input field at all. In fact, the password and submit controls result in the same code being generated.

It works with IE, why not Firefox?

Regards, John

    Deployment Guide v8.0.1, page 12:

"For AccessAgent, the only supported Web browser is Internet Explorer 5.0 and above on Windows."

    Thanks Dirk

I see - a little RFTM was called for, but there are so many...

It is in the 8.0 manual, which is what I have installed at the moment.

... The technical explanation is that an extension is installed into the IE browser to communicate with the AA client. Building a similar extension for firefox is apparently not a high priority.

Thanks for the technical answer. I suppose it is a reasonable stance, given that Firefox is only used by around 30% of internet users, which makes it a minority product...

One workaround though, is using the firefox addon called IE Tab then you'll have TAM ESSO working within the FF browser.

As posted just a second ago in the other thread, please verify the TAM E-SSO plugins are installed. I believe they show up as TAM E-SSO Firefox extension and TAM E-SSO XPCOM Component. If these are not installed, you will not have any single sign on in Firefox.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling AccessAgent. That should install the plugins for you. If not, you can also go into c:\program files\encentuate and run InstallFireFoxExtensions.vbs and InstallFireFoxXpCom.vbs to install it manually. Good luck!
