Pinned topic Dashboard 6.1.2 install issue?

‏2009-03-13T19:46:11Z |
I have RSA 7.5 installed and WPf 6.1.2. Under Help->about RSA->Features I see wpf and wpf dashboard.

In Feature Info I don't see "dashboard" . I see charting, dojo, integration extensions, nls, optional , and tutorials.

Can you help me resolve this issue?
When I run dashboard from the start menu I get an error "an error has occurred. See the log file C:\progarmfiles\ibm\sdp\configuration\1236958163015.log

The start->dashboard->designer :
Target: "C:\Program Files\IBM\SDP\eclipse.exe" -product com.ibm.rational.rsa.product.ide -perspective com.bowstreet.designer.model.ModelPerspective -vmargs -Xmx512m
Start in: "C:\Program Files\IBM\SDP"

    Hi,
Just for clarification. PF 6.1.2 doesn't contain Dashobard Framework. If you want to use Dashboard Framework, pls just install Dashboard Framework 6.1.2, which contains WPF 6.1.2.

Have you installed PF 6.1.2 or WDF 6.1.2?

    I have no issues installing
    wpf 6.1.2 installed no issues
    RSA 7.5 installed no issue
WAS & WP 6.1 installed no issue

I then try to install Dashboard 6.1.2 on either RSA or Eclipse. I get a "non fatal error" But Dashboard doesn't run see the initial post for the error when I try to run dashboard.

Are you saying you either install wpf or dashboard, which includes wpf but not both?
How do we correct this issue?

You don't need to install wpf 6.1.2. You could try to un-install wdf 6.1.2 and then un-install wpf 6.1.2 firstly, and then install WDF 6.1.2 with Eclipse or into your RSA.

Tried uninstalling both wdf and wpf, and then installed wdf but, it doesn't help. The same error appears in the dashboard framework log when installing without portlet factory
    "Custom Action: com.bowstreet.install.WASFinder
    Status: ERROR
Additional Notes: ERROR - class com.bowstreet.install.WASFinder unavailable."

And then when you go into RAD, the option to create a Websphere Portlet Factory Project is not available.

I then re-installed WPF and I still don't get the option to create a Portlet Factory project. Will uninstall both and see if I can at least get my ability to do portlet factory projects again.

    Hi,
WASFinder unavailable is not the key point here, though it's an issue happened during the installation (this only happens I guess when you've installed the Portal on your machine). I don't think it affects the usage of the RAD / eclipse.

As I mentioned, WDF 6.1.2 contains WPF 6.1.2. So there is no need to try to install WPF 6.1.2 and then WDF 6.1.2.

And could you try with following to see if you can start with WDF:
    1. Uninstall the installed WDF and WPF, and go to the WDF installation folder to remove some un-deleted files manually.
    2. Go to your RAD folder to remove the "links" folder
    3. Restart your RAD with a new workspace location
    4. Open the workspace location in Explorer, go into the ".metadata" folder, find ".log" file to see if anything wrong
    5. Close RAD.
    6. Run WDF 6.1.2 Installer, and with custom install option, specify the install location, and find your RAD.
    7. Installation would be finished with a "Non fatal error". (in your case)
    8. Start your RAD with another workspace location. Check the "HELP->About" to see if you can find WDF and WPF plugins. Then try to create a Portlet Factory Project.
    9. Open the workspace location in Explorer, go into the ".metadata" folder, find ".log" file to see if anything wrong

    Thanks for your cooperation.

Do you have a link to a document defining the installation proceedure for WPF and Dashboard?

Should you be able to launch dashboard/wpf from start->dashboard-> designer?

The problem with opening Designer from start menu is due to invalid link. If you look at RAD shortcut it will have,
    "C:\Program Files\IBM\SDP\eclipse.exe" -product com.ibm.rational.rsa4ws.product.v75.ide
And the WDF shortcut would be
    "C:\Program Files\IBM\SDP\eclipse.exe" -product com.ibm.rational.rsa.product.ide -perspective com.bowstreet.designer.model.ModelPerspective -vmargs -Xmx512m

So clearly the link provided by designer is wrong, it won't kickstart the RSA. If you change the product parameter to the one in RAD link, it would work perfectly.

If you install WebSphere Portal 6.1.x before Dashboard 6.1.2, you'll find the error.
    My solution:
    1) Uninstall Dashboard 6.1.2
    2) Goto regedit
    3) Rename the key
    http://HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\WebSphere Portal Server\6.1.0.1
    to
    http://HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM.bak\WebSphere Portal Server\6.1.0.1
    4) Install Dashboard 6.1.2 again
    5) Change the key back to the original
