Pinned topic Load data to DB2

‏2009-02-20T21:27:16Z |
Hi,

How can I load data from a member in TSO to a DB2 table?

I would like to load the data saved in a member and using a JOB or other tool load this data into a DB2 table. Or may be using another method, the fact is that I want to load a large amount of data into a DB2 table.

Thanks.

    Hello,

Unless I am missing something, all you need is the LOAD utility. You can specify the record layout of the source data and the corresponding table columns. The following link is for the v8.1 manual but LOAD has not changed much recently.

    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr/BOOKS/dsnugj16/2.14?DT=20080829064249

If the link doesn't work, just find a Utility Guide and Reference for the DB2 version that you are using and look for the chapter on LOAD.

I would try to give you some sample JCL but it can be fairly dependant on some local configuration of the proc library etc.

I know it's probably been so long that you no longer need the answer.

To load data you could also find ETL tools that will be able to transfer to DB2.

There are plenty of connectors between DB2 and ETL tools. That could be a possibility even though this post IS old!
