Pinned topic How to connect to db2 on z/os through db2 connect

‏2009-01-10T22:57:01Z |
I have DB2 Connect personal edition installed on my local machine. I am trying to connect to a DB2 on Z/OS. I have the ip and the port number to this DB2 instance, and I ran the following commands in my DB2 Connect:

catalog tcpip node <sys-name> remote <server-ip> server <port-number>
catalog db <db-name> at node <sys-name>

When I try to connect to this db alias, I get the following error:
SQL30061N The database alias or database name
"<db-name>" was not found at the remote node.
SQLSTATE=08004

The only info I have here is the server's ip and port. Is there something I am missing or not doing right here?

Thanks in advance.

    You are missing the DCS catalog entries. this is what makes db2connect work as a gateway.
