Pinned topic jax-ws and jax-rpc compatibility

‏2009-01-05T22:19:10Z |
I have a jax-ws client that is invoking a jax-rpc web service. The request is successfully sent and parsed. However, when the response is returned, an exception occurs when parsing the response. The error is:

12/12/08 15:39:29:257 EST] 00000021 SystemErr R javax.xml.ws.WebServiceException: javax.xml.stream.XMLStreamException: java.io.UnsupportedEncodingException: "utf-8"

Any suggestions for a resolution would be helpful.

Thanks.

One more important note that I forgot to mention...

There are two elements of type="xs:base64Binary" within the XML document. Just curious how the conversion of Base64 to binary data would work once the response is received? Should special logic be implemented to handle and parse this binary data within the web service using jax-rpc, and / or on the client side that invokes the web service using jax-ws?
