Pinned topic How do I create an RSS feed in WCM?

‏2008-12-10T22:08:55Z |
Can someone please provide me step-by-step directions on how to create an RSS feed from content in WCM? I'm having trouble figuring this out on my own. I saw previous post that gave general idea of how to but I'm still lost as I'm a complete newbie.

Thanks in advance.

Take a look at the attached lab to see if this is what you are looking for. It was offered at the last Portal Tech Conference

Thanks, this provided what I needed. There were some modifications I had to make with getting links to work with version 6.0.

Instead of using the PageURLMapping which I never could get to work, I just used <PathCmpnt type="base"/><Placeholder tag="Href"/> for the id and link.

This document is really good, but it references a JAR that is used during the lab.
Is it possible to post the file pznfeeds.jar please.

    Thank you

    Hi,

I am trying to implement the RSS feed using the doc. On getting the url on clicking preview and removing 'my' from 'myconnect', I pasted the URL in Mozilla firefox.
Still i am being prompted for userid and password. This rss feed should be available to all users to subscribe.

Please let me know where i am going wrong.
    Regards,
    Shake

It is hard to give you the exact solution without having access to your system, since this has something to do with one or more elements not allowing anonymous readers read access. Start by checking what other things that actually works, then compare it to your feed...

Make sure your site and site areas have anonymous read access. Just open one of the content and check inheritance to make sure anonymous access is allowed. If not, just allow it by defining user security. Make sure your menu is allowed anonymous read. Then the feed should work w/o authentication.

Thank you very much...After giving anonymous read access to the library, the feed is working without prompting for authentication.

    I have one more question..

I have subscribed the feed in mozilla firefox. The feed content is displaying as a simple web page. Can u pls tell me how to display the feed in WCM in a particular page and portlet?

How did you make it available with correct mime type (application/rss+xml)?
