That sounds like an Aqua issue rather than a DB2 one.
I successfully connected to DB2 Express-C v9.x running on port 50000 of localhost with a trial of Aqua Data Studio. You may need to specify the name of an existing database before connecting.

Re: IO exception: got minus one from a read call???2012-07-24T14:25:18Z in response to SystemAdminI know it a little late for this but if someone get stuck in this too, the issue is generated because the database selection on Aqua is wrong. The default option is Oracle8i and when one doesn't change that to the valid DB2 option, there is an exception like this one.
Greetings and I hope it helps someone.
