Pinned topic Connection from India to DataStage Server located in UK

‏2008-11-04T09:47:26Z |
Hi our server is located in the UK and we wish a team in India to access this server via the DataStage client. However, we are getting the following error:-

Failed to authenticate the curernt user against the seleted Domain. A communication failure occurred while attempting to obtain an initial context with the provided URL. Make sure any bootstrap address information in the URL is correct and that the target name server is running. A bootstrap address with no port specification defaults to port 2809. Possible causes other than an incorrect bootstrap adderss or unavailable name server include the network environment and workstation network configuration.

Can anyone elaborate on this error message or at least provide me with the ports that DataStage requires?

Thanks.

Probably a firewall issue. Ports for 8.0 are listed in Appendix E:

Thanks that thread and document were useful. We have now opened all the ports but now get the following error:-

Failed to authenticate the current user against the selected Domain. CORBA MARSHAL etc....

We believe this is because we are trying to connect using the DS client in a different domain to the DS server, but have tested connectivity successfully across the network and have configured the hosts file accordingly with the fully qualified server hostname.

Is there a way round having different domains for client and server? Is this a licence restriction?

    Thanks,
    Michelle

Sorry but I think you need to open a support ticket and get them to give you some diagnostics to run on your network.

    Hi,

Did this get resolved? We are having the exact same issue. Just upgraded to 8.1 and the client has been upgraded also on XP Pro. Any help would be great.

    Hi,

I created a new user account in OS as you said and mapped it to information server; however, it still didn't work. :(
Is there any other solution to solve this issue?

    Thanks!

You need to Update the certificates of the DS Server using updateSigner.bat; you can refer http://www.networkzindia.com/errors-while-trying-to-login-into-datastage-designer/

    Thanks
