IBM WebSphere Application Server Feature Pack for Web 2.0 provides WebSphere Application Server customers the ability to enable more interactive, dynamic web applications, fully leveraging existing SOA and JEE assets by making them easily accessible to Web 2.0 and Ajax applications. It also uses WebSphere Application Server to manage cross-site access to Web 2.0 style services from browser based Ajax applications and adds value to existing or new JEE applications by adding Ajax features to enterprise Web applications
IBM WebSphere Application Server Feature Pack for Web 2.0 include Web 2.0 SOA Ajax connectivity for enabling connectivity from Ajax clients and mash-ups to external web services, internal SOA services, and JEE assets. It also includes Ajax Messaging for connecting Ajax clients to real-time updated data like stock quotes or instant messaging. Additionally, the feature pack includes the Ajax Development Toolkit for WebSphere Application Server which is based on Dojo (dojotoolkit.org) with IBM extensions. It also includes samples to see how to utilize the features of the Feature Pack for Web 2.0.
Please begin by reading the Getting Started Guide available from the Library tab of the Web site. The guide will step you through the process of installing the Feature Pack for Web 2.0.

The Feature Pack for Web 2.0 is an application centric feature pack meaning that it provides sets of libraries which can be used within your applications to create Web 2.0 style architectures. As an example, the JSON4J jar library which is used to create JSON on the server-side can be embedded directly into your Java web application to provide the functionality. You may also be interested in RAD 7.5 beta which has additional built in wizard support for a number of the features in the Web 2.0 Feature Pack. More information can be found here:
