Pinned topic What should I think of this very slow rebuild index?

‏2008-03-08T17:20:08Z |
I have 2 machines, hardware config almost same, same CPU and speed, same OS and Informix version, production has 8 CPUs, 10GB RAM, test server has 6 CPUs, 4GB RAM. use backup/restore make two machine have same data. compared OS level copy file speed, same.

run a create index scripts on test server takes 20 minutes while on prduction needs 4 hours. What should I think into for this very slow rebuild index on prduction machine?

It is interesting that you say "Same data " ???
Is that same volume of data also. So exact same table schema with same exact number of rows and same exact data loaded in test as in production? Four hours vs. 20 Minutes this is a huge difference.
What threads are running on IDS for 4 hours (onstat -g act -r 2) (onstat -g ath).

What is the create index script?

Can you run "onstat -g env" on both servers and post the output?
