I'm testing GPFS for storing many-many small files (> 100.000).
I set PagePool=4096M, maxFilesToCache=100000(maximum) and maxStatCache 400000. All cache size = 2Gb during the stress test(I saw for the mmfsadm dump | grep cache |less values).
But I have servers with 16Gb Ram and I want use all this RAM for cache.
On the local FS (ext3) I have vfs inode cache (file cache). It has occuped all 16 Gb Ram and very quickly recieve by client.
Can GPFS use Vfs inode cache generally?
Sorry for my English

Re: Gpfs && vfs inode cache2008-01-28T18:01:34Z in response to SystemAdminI'm not sure what you are trying to achieve. GPFS is a parallel file system designed to work across multiple nodes. It sounds like you want maximum performance from a single node. You might find The basic GPFS structure or General Parallel File System (GPFS) Library useful. Also there's a Red Book on Sizing and Tuning GPFS.
