XUL is great, but Michael should have mentioned the lack of documentation Mozilla provides. Much of the online reading en referencing material on MDC (http://developer.mozilla.org/) is out of date and the online XUL specification isn't finished at all. The best tutorial around is on http://www.xulplanet.com/, but also this tutorial mentions XUL-elements that aren't available in the current XUL version anymore (like the 'grippy' element).
The thing I'm really missing are the XUL equivalents of the HTML DTD's: what elements are allowed inside a certain XUL-element? It seems that the answer to this question only can be found in the source code of the Gecko-renderer, not really the place I want to spend time searching for answers.
Whenever Mozilla will provide us with more en recent documentation, this might just something for other XML-based interface framework developers to be really aware of.
PS: The article I'm refering to, can be found here: https://www6.software.ibm.com/developerworks/education/x-xulintro/index.html
