Pinned topic Using indirect refrence in Data Field modifier/Link builder

‏2008-01-21T16:18:20Z |
I have this scenario wherein I want to use an indirect refrenc for Link text ( in both DFM and Link builde). I have created an action List which returns a string . I have pointed the link text to the output of this method.
If am retirning !-- -->it flashes an error saying that 'http://.......'/ model does'nt exist. but if I return a simple string it works fine something like return ! Test.
I guess the issue is with img src construct, may be it has problem in parsing it.
Any pointers ?
TIA

Did you change the action type in the link builder to "Link to a URL"?

    Here is a quick example:

      Hi,

i guess I did'nt put forth my question appropriately.
I intend to put my DFM as an image which is controlled by a method depending on the values of the col i replace them with image or just empty.I created a method which returns the string <image src='http://www.ibm.com/i/v14/buttons/view_rd.gif' border='0' width='16' height='16' alt='Show Hub Detail'/>.. Now when i use this it flashes an error saying that 'http://www.ibm.com/i/v14/buttons/view_rd.gif' is not a model. If I skip the src in the string it just does fine. Now my question is can we use this string to display an image?
      TIA

I figured the way out to use Conditional DFM/Link builder.
In link text use an action List/method which returns a string which you can use as Image or simple Link text.
In the method/aCtion list traverse thru the items ( Use Loop variable of the XML result Set) and check for condition to hide /change dynamically your Link text or image.
