To collect VPD via invscout you need the proper rpm's from...
However looking at the the available filesets levels for RHE 5 at the above link the following is displayed.....
Digging a little further I see the following quote in the RSCT Admin guide and visible at the following link..
"The first release of RSCT that supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 is RSCT 22.214.171.124. Therefore, when you upgrade a node from RHEL 3 or RHEL 4 to RHEL 5 and RSCT is already installed on that node, if the version of RSCT is not 126.96.36.199 or higher, you must either upgrade RSCT to at least version 188.8.131.52 before you upgrade the operating system or upgrade the operating system and RSCT at the same time."
Are the filesets available at the Service and productivity tools website actually current or is the above manual correct?
As things sit now I am unable to collect VPD via the HMC using the filesets at the Service and productivity tools website so what is the recommended way of getting current VPD data for a system running VIO and linux LPAR's to IBM?

Re: collecting VPD via HMC on linux lpars.2007-09-24T15:10:46Z in response to larryhotchThank you for bringing this to our attention. I'm looking for the correct versions of the RSCT packages for RHEL5, and I'll test VPD collection with those versions. I'll update the website with the correct versions once I've verified that VPD collection works with them.

Re: collecting VPD via HMC on linux lpars.2007-09-27T12:55:18Z in response to strosakeLooks like there are some issues with the SLES 10 SP1 packages as well.
I was going down the list installing packages and when I got to csm.client-184.108.40.206-29.ppc.rpm the system came back with the following....
error: Failed dependencies:
rsct.core >= 2.3.3 is needed by csm.client-220.127.116.11-29.ppc
I already installed rsct.core but the version you have available is 18.104.22.168-06262.ppc.rpm and the above error leads me to beleive its looking for a different version.
