The following high-performance computing (HPC) cluster software is supported on an IBM* System p* 570 in a clustered environment.

Running the AIX Version 5.3 operating system with TL 5300-06:
o Cluster Systems Management (CSM) for AIX 5L, V1.6
o Engineering and Scientific Subroutine Library (ESSL) for AIX, V4.2.0.5 and V4.3
o Parallel ESSL for AIX 5L, V3.3
o Parallel Environment for AIX 5L, V4.3.1
o Tivoli* Workload Scheduler (TWS) LoadLeveler* for AIX 5L, V3.4.1
o General Parallel File System* (GPFS*) for AIX 5L, V3.1

Running the SUSE Linux Enterprise Linux 10, SP1 operating system:
o Cluster Systems Management for Linux on POWER, V1.6
o ESSL for Linux on POWER, V4.2.5.1 and V4.3
o Parallel ESSL for Linux on POWER, V3.3
o Parallel Environment for Linux on POWER, V4.3.1
o TWS LoadLeveler for Linux on POWER, V3.4.1
o General Parallel File System for Linux on POWER, V3.1

Running the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.5 operating system:
o Cluster Systems Management for Linux on POWER, V1.6
o General Parallel File System for Linux on POWER, V3.1

Servers, either stand-alone or connected via an Ethernet LAN supporting IP are supported.

Required service:
Parallel ESSL for AIX 5L APAR # PK45573
Parallel ESSL for Linux - update 3.3.0-1
CSM for AIX 5L APAR # IY99873 and IZ00912
Parallel Environment for AIX 5L APAR # IY99869
GPFS V3.1 APAR # IY99258

CSM for AIX 5L and CSM for Linux on POWER both require service to be applied on the Hardware Management Consoles (HMCs) in the cluster. The following APARs are required: MB02095, MB02111

The HMC V7 implementation restricts the use of Secure Socket Layer (SSL) while communicating with the CSM management server. This will be fixed in HMC APAR # MB02122**

The use of Checkpoint / Restart with Parallel Environment and TWS LoadLeveler require AIX APAR # IZ02882**

  • APAR not yet available.

If not required, it is recommended to obtain the latest service updates.

Service for the AIX cluster products can be obtained from the IBM Electronic Fix Distribution service Web site: http://www-03.ibm.com/servers/eserver/support/unixservers/aixfixes.html
