‏2007-02-08T22:06:43Z |
Welcome to the new RUP forum. The majority of Rational Method Composer (RMC) tool related posts have been moved over to the new RMC forum. Please create posts related to method authoring & publishing using RMC over there.

I look forward to some great discussions on this board. This is the place to post any questions that you might have regarding any aspect of RUP, as well as other related topics like the Unifed Process, OpenUP, PMBOK, and Agile practices.

This forum exists for the benefit of the user community. It is a great opportunity to share positive as well as negative experiences with RUP. While the board is for the users, it is watched closely by the RUP content team, with the goal of continuously improving the content.

This is your opportunity to be heard.

    Mark,
Can anyone let me know how to send emails to this forum that are not
anonymous? Per Kroll obviously can but most other people have to send
emails with disadmin@us.ibm.com which is unfriendly.

    Hello Ivar.
This email that you just sent was not anonymous and arrived in my inbox
with your name. In fact I replied to it by just hitting the Reply button.
It also arrived in the forum's Web UI with your name. The other people's
"emails" that you saw were actually sent via the Web UI that you can reach
with the link below. In the days of spam it seems that this is a more
popular way for using our forum than using email clients.

    http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/forums/dw_forum.jsp?forum=335&cat=24

Every forum post from the Web is clearly labeled with the sender's name as
well. It is not possible however to use the Web UI and send emails with
the writer's email address as it would not be sent by the writer's email
sever and would require spoofing. Most other forums on the internet follow
    such rules.
I hope this helps and best regards,
    Peter Haumer.

Peter Haumer sent a clearer clarification to me in response to an
    off-forum email:

"If you post via the Web UI emails that email subscribers will receive
from the forum server are sent from disadmin@us.ibm.com. If you use the
email list and send email to rup@lists.ca.ibm.com from your email
client, it will show your email address as the sender.

"Most RUP forum user use the Web UI and NOT their email client to
contribute and hence you see most emails from disadmin@us.ibm.com in
    your inbox."

    OK, now I get it.
