What I'm looking for is versioning information.
On November 9, 1999 IBM donated XML4J to the Apache Software foundation and renamed the project to xerces.
According to this site:
The following is true:
Version 3.0.1 of XML4J is based on Xerces 1.0.3.
Version 3.1.0 of XML4J is based on Xerces 1.2.0.
What I'd like to know is where to find the rest of the XML4J version information. The Xerces project includes a handy class to retrieve the version information org.apache.xerces.impl.Version, however, when IBM releases their JDK, they make minor modifications to Xerces, including the version string returned by Xerces.
More specifically, I'm looking for the version of xerces that the following versions of XML4J were based on:
XML4J 4.2.2 => Xerces ?.?.?
XML4J 4.3.3 => Xerces ?.?.?
XML4J 4.4.5 => Xerces ?.?.?
Any help with this is greatly appreciated.
