How can I find out how many users are connected to my Derby database at any given time.

    Hi -

    That information needs to be obtained from the networking code that is managing the connections. Derby contains no networking code thus does not have this information. If you are using the Derby Network Server you can use Network Server Control program to list the client connections it is managing.

    You can use the runtimeinfo command or getRuntimeInfo method to get memory usage and current session information about the Network Server including user, database, and prepared statement information.

    Setting the property: derby.drda.logConnections
    will log connections made to the network server but I do not think disconnects are logged so this may be of limited use to you.

    I am not very familiar with the trace utility but it may also provide some useful information for you.

    I imagine other Server programs provide similar tools.
