Pinned topic performance problem

‏2006-04-11T12:38:15Z |
I am using Metastage 7.0 and SQL Server 2000 as the repository. I have assigned some 'business domains' and assigned 'glossaries' to them. I have observed that the 'terms' that I had assigned for the 'glossaries' takes long time to open. The 'terms' that I have defined contains the link to the technical metadata.
Also I have observed that during the process of opening the individual 'terms', Metastage consumes lot of memory (370MB approx).
I am using a system of 3 GHz processor and 512MB of RAM with WINXP OS.

Kindly advice.

MetaStage is notoriously hungry for memory, as it tries to construct models entirely in memory. 512MB is the minimum specification, where you would expect to see performance issues; 2GB is a more sensible amount of memory for a machine running MetaStage. More is better.

Also, is your MetaStage server installation and repository on the same server as your DataStage installation? We found that those two don't like to share the same server.

We currently use a server with 1Gig of memory and that doesn't always feel like enough. I agree, MetaStage is a very memory hungry application and needs it's own dedicated beefed up server if you want efficiency.
