I have a customer who wishes to migrate from Linux/Oracle RAC (using Oracle Cluster Filesystem - OCFS) to an AIX 5.3 LPAR/Oracle 10g/GPFS 2.3 environment.
The development environment of the customer contains Oracle RAC running on a single Linux machine using OCFS.
Question: Can I run GPFS on a single LPAR (AIX 5.3/GPFS 2.3)? or is two LPARs a minimum ?

Re: Oracle RAC on GPFS2006-06-15T13:51:40Z in response to SystemAdminYes, you can run GPFS in a single LPAR, just define one node in the cluster.
Question: why run Oracle RAC in a single LPAR versus just Oracle single-instance?

Re: Oracle RAC on GPFS2006-06-15T20:34:47Z in response to SystemAdminGlen,
Thank you very much for the reply. The Customer/Oracle has a requirement to test the application (E-business suite 11i)against a RAC instance on a single LPAR in the development environment.
