Pinned topic Mobillity client and loosing physical connections

‏2005-07-28T09:01:01Z |
Hello,

I'm not sure if this messageboard is still alive (not much is posted
here lately), but I'll give it a try ..

I've a tablet PC running windows XP with a Mobillity client installed.
Furthermore I've an GPRS PCMCIA card installed and the tablet has also
ethernet and WiFi. When the tablet is placed in a cradle it also has a
serial port, which is attached to a serial mobitex modem.

What I want to do is to be able to let the client roam between all those
networks.

Problems I encouter are :

1) starting op the client when every hardware can be found goes
allright, but when I lift the tablet out of the cradle it looses
(logically) contact with the serial modem. Placing the tablet back into
the cradle doesn't get the connection back. The client doesn't try to
reestablisch it so to speak.

2) When starting the client when the serial modem isn't available
(tablet not in cradle), then the client gives a core dump in artcore.exe
and fails to connect via the other networks as well.

Does someone encounter this as well and found a solution for it?
I think something might be done by using the mobillity API, but before
reinventing the wheel.....maybe some of you guys/girls made something
for it allready and wants to share it?

    Sjoerd,
Does the Mobitex modem uses a driver provided by WECM? What release level
of the client are you using? A core dump suggests you should open a PMR
through the support team so this can get fixed. If the TTY interface is not
re-established after being broken please obtain PMR for this also and
    provide client trace.

Using the API should not be required if I correctly understand your use
case. You have GPRS, wireline, 802.11, and Mobitex(serial connection). Is
the GPRS a PPP or NDIS interface? You want to roam accross all these using
the "top down" prioritization provided by the WECM client's "Configured
    Networks" list?
