Pinned topic How to stop MVFS Services by the command line in windows

‏2005-06-01T20:39:22Z |
I am building a bat file that stop the clearcase services in a windows server host, so at this moment i know how to stop three of them: Atria Location Broker(albd service), Rational Cred Manager(Credential Manager Service) and Rational Lock Manager(Lock Manager Service). But I can't find the MVFS Service because it doesn't seem to be listed in the Windows services list in the control pannel. or even in the procces list in the task manager.

So, I need is to know how to stop and star the MVFS Service thru the command line.

Thanks!

That is it. You need to stop these three services only. Additionally you
may need to kill all process ids that are listed by albd_list utility.

You can't stop/start the MVFS from the command line because it isn't a
service. It is a device driver that is loaded during boot time. The
filename is mvfsXX.sys where XX is some number (I can't recall). The
only way to prevent MVFS from "starting" is to remove/rename that file
    and reboot.

Question is, why do you want to stop everything? You don't need to do
that to run a backup you know.

You can't. It's a device driver that loads at boot time.

    Thanks everybody for your help!

Derek, yes...the reazon to stop everything it was to run a backup, but i already find a tool that can copy files even if are opened. So now I don't need to stop anything.

    Thank again!

If you didn't already know, you will need to lock the vobs (for
everyone) during the backup. Locking the vobs will flush buffers and
caches to disk, otherwise you risk creating a useless backup. For more
details/warnings refer to the admin manual.
