Pinned topic Running ulimit as non-root user

‏2004-10-25T19:30:21Z |
Does anyone know how (if possible) to run ulimit as a non-root user and to have the setting persist (e.g. for future sessions)? I am running SUSE SLES v8.1 and when I run 'ulimit -n 4096' as root, it works fine, but I need to be able to run this command as a non-root user to work-around a problem running out of file handles when running the java compiler. Thanks in advance for your help.
