Pinned topic ANR8214E Session open with x.x.x.x failed due to connection refusal.

Hi guys,

Please help!!! I get this message on basically all my machines every second of third day.

"ANR8214E Session open with x.x.x.x failed due to connection refusal."

They will run fine one day and miss the next 2 days, wihtout any reason shown in the TSM Activity Log.

The setup are as follows:
I have 3 sites each running Tivoli Storage Manager 5.1.8.0 and 1 running Tivoli Storage manager 5.2.3.2. All machines run Windows 2000 server with service pack 4. All the clients run either Windows 2000 server of Windows NT 4 server.

The "dsmsched.log" file shows:
09/08/2004 09:36:13 Querying server for next scheduled event.
09/08/2004 09:36:13 ANS1029E Communications have been dropped.
09/08/2004 09:36:13 Will attempt to get schedule from server again in 30 minutes.

and "dsmerror.log" shows only:
09/08/2004 09:36:13 ANS1029E Communications have been dropped.

If you have ANY suggestions, I would REALLY appreciate them!

Thank you

Sias Berg

I found this message associated with error code ANS1029E. I've had the same problem, and this fixed it.

    ANS1029E Communications have been dropped.
Explanation: Communications with the server dropped.
    System Action: Processing stopped.
User Response: Restart the ADSM client and retry the operation.

This site is helpful as an error message handbook.

The important thing is, communication dropped by server when client querying the next schedule event, this means in the client side scheduler service cannot connect to the server cause when you'll set the scheduler service it's ask you the node's password, if you change the password on the server you'll need to upgrade your schedule service with this new password...

Is the client listing to the default port ? Run netstat, default port on the tsm client should be 1500, Make sure the server knows which tcp/ip port to contact the client. Do you have polling or prompted set on the server?

Hi, I have the same problem now, but I have no idea with TSM system. So would you please tell me the meaning of "restart the ADSM client"? Does it means I need to reboot the servers which need to backup to TSM?
    Sorry for this stupid question.
