Pinned topic Outbound Support in WVS?

‏2003-03-26T14:51:31Z |
It is our impression that, as of some months ago, outbound calling was not
supported in WebSphere Voice Server. I refer to machine-initiated outbound
calls, as opposed to calls that are the result of call transfer (which we
currently use).

Is this feature, indeed, unsupported as of this time? If so, are there
plans to add support it in the near future?

We are running WVS for the Cisco Telephony Platform.

Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

DG

No, it's not currently supported. Neither VoiceXML 1.0, which is supported
by WVS/Cisco, nor VoiceXML 2.0 (which we do not currently support) have any
mechanisms for outbound calls to be made. The W3C's Voice Browser Working
Group is working on Call Control Markup Language (CCXML) which will fill
this gap. A working draft of the CCXML specification is at:

Please tell me total cost of whole packge means how many other software and hardware will be needed to run VXML server and please tell me their cost also.

VoiceXML itself has no support for outbound calling (unless you count the
<transfer> tag). With WebSphere Voice Response and WebSphere Voice Server,
you can make outbound calls. I believe an alpha CCXML interpreter is
available for the WVR from www.ibm.com/alphaworks.

With respect to cost, that would depend on many things - the number of phone
lines you want to support, how many will be doing speech reco, and so on.
The best way to find out would be to contact your local IBM sales office -
they can help you with configuration things.

        Thanks,
        Jeff
