    Certainly.

    I assume you've already read http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/library/l-sc6.html and
    http://phaseit.net/claird/comp.text.pdf/PDF.html . I'll make a point of beefing up the latter over the next month or so. Do let me know if you have specific questions; I'm working already on several others from readers who have written me privately.

    Anything you can say to specify your own situation helps. Do you have particular customer requirements you need to fulfill, or are you "just" learning for yourself? One way to start, that I'll elaborate in a follow-up, is to work in HTML, and transform that to PDF.

    [b]FPDF:[/b] a free PHP class to generate PDF files.

    I used it to create a brochure for my mother's company, and it's possible to have users create PDF documents from online forms. Uses PHP server-side scripting.
