Pinned topic JDK 1.3 jit problems with SMP

‏2001-04-04T18:35:58Z |
Does anyone know if there are reported problems with IBM's JDK 1.3
when running on an SMP(Windows NT SP5) machine? With jit enabled the
my server program consistently envokes Dr. Watson and abends under a
moderate to heavy load. When I turn the jit compiler off the program
runs fine. Is this a bug? The Dr. Watson dump indicates that is is
java.exe that caused an access violation and the functin is
NtWaitForSingleObject. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

The Linux equivalent of this newsgroup (ibm.software.java.linux on
news://news.software.ibm.com) contains several SMP problem postings. The
last release (SR6, build cn130-20010207) contains SMP improvements (message
news:3A89605E.6F47A6F@hursley.ibm.com), but I have no idea if these changes
are done in the shared part of the code or in the Linux specific part.

      Mark,
Thanks for your input. I just checked and unfortunetly that is
      the
version I am currently running. Hopefully an IBM engineer will be
      able
to shed some light on this problem. I tried a test and installed
      Sun's
JDK and get the same results. Even tried on two seperate machines.
      It
Seems to only happen on the multi-processor
      machines.

      Thanks,
      David
