The Java COMM API is not specific to IBM or Linux. It is a common API available
from Sun through the Java Community Process (JCP). The API docs are available
    from http://java.sun.com/products/javacomm/javadocs/packages.html

So IBM's commapi for linux has the same syntax as Suns commapi for win and
      solaris?

The API for the Java Communications API is controlled by the appropriate JSR
offered through jcp.org. While Sun and IBM both sit on the executive board of
the JCP, neither controls the API on their own.

I'd like to confirm if it is still the case that IBM doesn't have general core IBM Java API documentation.

Is the IBM Java implementation guaranteed to work identical to Sun's ( now Oracle's ) implementation?

    Thanks.
