Any chance of a updated set of release notes for D4 so we can determine whats changed at all? The readme is still the D3 readme so by the looks its simply a bug fix....is there any ability to track which bugs?

Is there a way to modify the column width of the virtual machines view (see screenshot) in the user interface? I can't see which VM I am selecting as its name is too long.

      Hi Andrew,

Currently you cannot modify the column width of the Assigned Resources table. If you have a name that spans beyond the column width, you need to hover over the cropped name in order to see the full length name.

The bootstrap script has since version 2.3 and would appear to have an error making the logic turn out incorrect if you don't have a registered hostname. Consequently chef does not work and the deploy script fails to complete successfully because the Chef server ends up with a name of 'record'.

Line 143 of /opt/ico_install/installer/bootstrap.sh has the following:

    if host $CLOUD_FIRST_BOX_IP > /dev/null 2>&1; then

          $CLOUD_FIRST_BOX_IP=$(host $CLOUD_FIRST_BOX_IP|head -n 1|awk '{print $NF}')

    elif hostname -f > /dev/null 2>&1; then

         $CLOUD_FIRST_BOX_IP=$(hostname -f)

    fi

The intent of this appears to be to use the host of the resolved IP address and if not then use hostname from the local machine. However, a host lookup on a IP address will always provide a response for any IP address meaning that the first part of the if statement will always succeed. What is returned for IPs that have no entry in a DNS will more than likely be something like ".....no PTR record'. As a consequence $CLOUD_FIRST_BOX_IP becomes "record" and this is then established as the hostname for Chef server.

I changed the above to the follow to get around this issue.

    if !(host $CLOUD_FIRST_BOX_IP | grep 'no PTR record' > /dev/null 2>&1); then

          $CLOUD_FIRST_BOX_IP=$(host $CLOUD_FIRST_BOX_IP|head -n 1|awk '{print $NF}')

    elif hostname -f > /dev/null 2>&1; then

         $CLOUD_FIRST_BOX_IP=$(hostname -f)

    fi

After this my install now proceeds.

My Allinone deployment still fails after the sucessfull installation of SCO. I'm looking into the reason why but I suspect there is another instance of this issue in the receipes somewhere because knife is trying to use a host called "recor" which seems to be too close of a match to "record" in my opinion.

Tried to deploy a Virtual System Pattern from the self-service user interface to vCenter and got this error message: CWZKS0075E: The virtual image in the pattern does not meet the requirements for RHEL65, which has these requirements: disk size: 4846.0MB, processor: 1, and memory: 2048MB. The virtual image in the pattern provides these resources: disk size: 0MB, processors: 1, and memory: 2,048MB.

Unfortunately flavors with 0 disk size are not supported for pattern deployments. The suggestion is to use flavors with explicit disk size.

Do the VerticalScaleGenericCPU-Script and VerticalScaleGenericMemory-Script packages work for VMware instances? I can see that they were deployed successfully, but nothing happens when the CPU or memory load goes over the threshold.

I'd suggest to use scaling policy for scaling, rather than script packages. The scaling script packages are designed for use with "classic" vSys and HVE images.

Thanks, the scaling policy worked when I set the option for scaling to be "add or remove nodes".

However, when I selected either "add vCPU only" or "add or remove nodes; add vCPU first and then add nodes", I get a "java.lang.NullPointerException" error (see attached screenshot). What are the prerequisites for the option "add vCPU only"?

    Hi,

Trying to install the all-in-one-kvm template but failed with log message (/opt/ibm/BPM/v8.5/logs/config/BPMConfig_20140903-170707.log) saying:

Checking on google it seems to be a table creation problem.  Has anyone seen this before?

This is a new VM and a fresh installation.

Are we allowed to configure vSphereHA + TSA AM config as we we did in the previous SCO 2.3?
    (NO TSA MP!)

I believe vSphereHA + TSA AM config provideds enough availability for HW/SW failures.
However looking at the manual there is ONLY a procedure for TSA MP + TSA AM.
The manual already points out that some openstack objects are single instances, which are not configured with redundacy.
(Specially the network node, which is total SPOF)
Also PowerVC configs do not support TSA MP.

Having this, the previous config is much more simple to operate, and more suitable for certain configuration.

      Hi,

we enhanced the HA a lot in 2.4 and therefore please set up HA as described in the users guide and do not set up as in 2.3.

Feedback for HA in 2.3 was that it was not comprehensive and robust enough therefore the change.

        Birgit,

        Thanks for you reply.
Since non-HA and HA have alot of differences of HW prereqs... guess we need to make the proper decision before installing and preparing the HW.

    Hi,

is the integration with SCCM now supported in D4?

If yes, which version of SCCM shall be used (and where to get the download binaries)?

I didn't see Cost Management integration mentioned in the User Guide or the download page. In the upgrade section of the User Guide, there is a reference that SCCM 2.1.0.4 will be used and update from 2.1.0.3 is possible - but where can I get that latest version?

Hello, I am installing the scenario without high availability and with an internal DB.

I had some errors I would like to share and ask for help:

1- the readme file for drop 4 doesn't  have the touch commands for the files of the optional products that is needed only for HA. So, I didn't  do the touch and then I had errors installing the deployment service claiming the lack of the files, so I did the touch commands. I could run the deployment service installation. It is good to remember that those optional products are not available for download from the beta download page. My questions: a) should we do the touch command or not? if yes should it be in the readme file? or should the installation script be modified to handle this? b) Also, should the files be on the beta download page? c) and should the user guide really state the HA files (products) are optional for the installation of deployment service?

2- another problem I had, is that DB2, by the User Guide installation section, page 29 (Preparing the Installation Media) says to put DB2 in the directory only if you are doing the deploy with HA. But as it is available on the beta download page, I put it there, but the file downloaded file was different from the one expected: DB2_10_limited_CD_Linux_x86-64.tar.gz versus IBM_DB2_10.1_-_Limited_Use_for_Li.tar.gz . So, I had problem again with file not found. I did a touch command and the installation of deployment service finished OK. My questions: d) should I do the touch or not? Should this touch command be in the readme file also? the same as before. e) and should the DB2 file on the beta download page be corrected?

3- Now I am having problem doing the ICO environment deploy just during the installation of DB2 on CS1. this is the error:

    [2014-09-10 14:54:32,030] 10.221.1.178 [2014-09-10T14:54:31-03:00] FATAL: Stacktrace dumped to /var/chef/cache/chef-stacktrace.out

My questions: f) is this because of the lack of DB2 or it is another problem? g) What should I do to correct this problem and go on?

**** I just found this problem was the lacking of the redhat repository in the CS1 ****

4- To try to go on at the step before, I got the right DB2 file and put it at the ico_install directory. Then I run again the deployment service installation. Then I had this problem:
