Pinned topic hs22 with 41Y8581 4 Gb Fibre Channel Expansion Card

‏2013-09-27T13:14:13Z |

Hi,

I wonder if someone will be able to help us. We recently inherited couple of HS22 blades with 41Y8581 expansion cards. After inserting them into our Bladecenter E chassis they are starting fine, but mezz cards are not connecting to Fibre switch. They are correctly configured in Windows 2008R2 server, but link is down on both sides - switch and both ports of HBA. Switch - QLogic 4 Gb 20-port Fibre Channel Switch Module 26R0881

Regards,

Marcin

Bad news for you. IBM BladeCenter has 10 slots for IO modules (switches). 41Y8581 is Qlogic Ethernet + FC combo CFF card and connects to switches in bay 7 - 10.  And probable Qlogic FC switches you installed into bays 3 and 4.

To use your card, you have to insert into upper BC slots  Multi-Switch Interconnect Module (MSIM) and move there Qlogic FC switches, into slots 8 and 10 To activate Ethernet ports from CFF card, you need Ethernet switches in slots 7 and 9 in MSIM.

I missed you have BC-E. No, CFF modules are not compatible with BC-E.
