Using MQ would be more of a fire and forget mechanism that would be faster.  The process that picks the message off of the queue doesn't need to be concerned with latency and memory consumption like the device that is handling requests concurrently, so it could pull the message off of the queue and do the sql, handle any error conditions, etc.  If the DB was down then the message would be persisted on the queue until the DB was back up. I would not recommend SQL on the appliance for repetitive SQL inserts for logging.
