Pinned topic Copying table data into Excel

‏2019-08-18T07:09:37Z |

Hello,

My customer is using BAW V18.0.0.1. I have a question about copying table data into Excel.

I created a table and strings are bound to the table. (See TEST20_HS.png)

When copying table data with Ctrl-C and paste them into Excel with Ctrl-V. (See TEST20_HS_2.png)

Copied data and cell format in Excel varies according to browsers(Firefox, IE and Chrome) from which data is copied. (TEST20.xlsx)

My customer expects copied data from Chrome for Firefox and IE.

Do you have an idea so that copied data from Forefox and IE will be same as those from Chrome?

Thank you, Koichi

    Hello Atanu,

    Can you download takahak03c - 20190821a.twx from https://ibm.ent.box.com/folder/85432754276 ?

    Thank you, Koichi

    Hi Koichi,

Thanks for sharing the TWX, I got the issue, you just need to map the list of complex object with the Data Export control, that's it.

    Data_Binding.JPG

Now if you click on "Data Export (Table1)", you will get  the output Excel file as -

    Output_Excel.JPG

I hope this what you are looking for. In case you need further customization in the Excel, you can configure the Data Export control by following the link -

    https://salientprocess.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/218043417-Data-Export

    Hope this helps.

The difference is because the content you are copying from IE and Chrome are different, in case of IE some additional HTML contents are getting copied which is containing the header for each cell but in Chrome only the cell values are getting copied. I don't think this behaviour can be changed. You can try two options -

    1. Use the out of the box Data Export control to export the data as excel

    2. Provide a button to copy the content to clipboard and when clicked that button will copy the desired text.

    Hello Atanu,

Thank you for your information. I can export data from Table. Can't  we export data from Table Layout?

    Thank you, Koichi

    Hi Koichi,

Ideally you should be able to export data from a table, repeating layout, or a list of complex objects that contain properties of simple types to an Excel .xlsx or .csv formatted file.

Can you show how did you implement the table layout in your case ?

I'll note that IBM has made this use case needlessly complex.  The Brazos UI toolkit has "export to excel" as a attribute the user can enable on the table control to make all of this easier for BPM developers.  Sorry you are having to jump through so many hoops.

    Hello Atanu and Andre,

    Thank you for your response.

I have created a following samples:

    - KT_TEST07: Table layout is in Table. (see KT_TEST07.png)

Both Data Export(Table1) and Data Export(Table Layout1) export no data.

    - KT_TEST08: Only table layout. (see KT_TEST08a.png and KT_TEST08b.png)

      Data Export exports no data.

Don't you have any idea to export these data?

    Thank you, Koichi
