Pinned topic Portable DSA for vSphere 5.1. Does it exist?

‏2013-07-01T16:28:47Z |

Hello,

I'm looking to use the Portable DSA tool on a vSphere 5.1 blade.

I downloaded the ESX 4.0 version from http://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/docdisplay?lndocid=serv-dsa but the guy installing is telling me this fails.

Is there a vSphere 5.1 compatible version of the tool?

Thanks

Glenn

    Hi Glenn,

You can gather DSA data remotely while a host is running (if that was your intention), but it will also depend on your server model and if you have installed the host using the IBM customized vSphere installer, since certain providers are necessary to gather the host's information. Essentially you run the DSA tool from a Windows source machine (workstation, server, etc.), and specify command-line switches to connect to the vSphere host.

You would not use an ESX-based tool in vSphere 5.x, since there is no longer a service console (it is not ESX based).

    Regards,

    Dave
