Pinned topic unable to kick start Mozilla Firefox with RPT 8.5 on RHEL 5.7

‏2013-11-21T09:57:16Z |

Hi,

I had installed RPT v8.5 on RHEL 5.7 and unable to record test using Mozilla Firefox  3.6.18 on RHEL.

The steps I followed are:
·         Create a performance Test project.
·         test from recording- HTTP Test
·         Select Client Application- Mozilla Firefox
·         But unable to proceed after clicking Finish button.

Also as suggested to me by IBM support, I tried to record with unmanaged application recorder but still I ended-up with non-responding finish button.

Kindly let me the solution.

Thanks & Regards

Sourabh

Do you get a message like this?

Your browser profile is already in use.
You must close the browser or select another browser from Application to Record in Preferences.

If so, go to your Firefox profile and delete the file parent.lock.

      Hi,

      No message was displayed.

Actually when I tried to click on finish button in create recording test window, finish button didn't responded i.e. no further action after clicking on finish button. So I am unable to proceed after it.

      Regards

        Sourabh,

Did you try pointing RPT to use its own JRE, instead of Java 7 update 25 in this case ???

I would suggest you to open the "eclipse.ini" file and ensure you point this to RPT shipped JRE......

Once this is done, clean launch RPT (From command line : eclipse -initialise    eclipse -clean).

Now, click on "Windows" >> "Preferences >> Java >> Installed JREs    and ensure that the RPT shipped JRE/JDK is made used here.

        For example: C:\Program Files\IBM\jdk

          Hi Rajesh,

I uninstalled the JAVA 7 update 25 and configured such that RPT use its own JRE. But still issue remains the same, I am unable to record test using Mozilla as finish button is not functioning with both cases- Mozilla Firefox selection and unmanaged Application.

          please find the attachment.

            Sourabh,

After ensuring that the RPT supplied JDK is being pointed by RPT, can you clean launch the RPT application via command line

            SDP> eclipse -clean

            SDP> eclipse -initialise

See if this makes any difference.

Also can you select any other recorder (such as Socket recorder) and proceed to verify if the "Finish" button gets enabled ??
