It is possible that the user id used to connect to the database does not have the right privileges to view storage objects and their properties.  One way to quickly check this is is to open the error log.  There should be an entry there if this is indeed the case.

To open the error log, on the main menu go to Windows --> Show View --> Error Log.

Then connect to the database and select the Table Spaces folder.

If there is an authorization or privileges problem, there should be something logged as soon as you click on the folder indicating the type of privilege needed.

The solution would be to grant the id the proper privileges or to use an id that already has these privileges granted.

Even if it isn't a privileges problem, there may be something logged that may provide a clue to the problem encountered.
