Pinned topic Is there any hyperlinks in SA to link a symbol with a diagram?

‏2014-03-28T01:12:12Z |

Hi, team

We know we can link a diagram in a symbol in another diagram as its child diagram.

Besides this, is there any hyperlinks that can link a symbol to another diagram in order to show some relevance or specific details?

This comes from below scenario:

Let us say there are two symbols 'SA' and 'SB' in both diagram 'DA' and 'DB'.

In 'DA' we attached 'DB' as child diagram to symbol 'SB'. Then in 'DB' we want to attach 'DA' as child diagram to symbol 'SA' as well.

But SA does not allow to do this, so instead we hope to create a hyperlink to link 'SA' with 'DA' in diagram 'DB'. Is that possible?

Looking forward to any response, thanks!

Best Regards

Hai

You can link a diagram from an object in the parent to the child diagram - it does not link to a specific object in the child diagram unless you create a specific relationship for the parent object to the child object and that would not be shown as a diagram to diagram relationship.

Relationships in SA are pretty rigid based on the meta model, unlike Visio or other tools. Just to create a hyperlink to connect two symbols is generally not in the typical meta model structure.

Yes, I agree there is no existing function to do this.

Below two ways are recommended from dev team, I have not set up the environment to try solution 1. Both needs further configuration or customization.

1.Set up SA as OSLC provide and consumer then can create OSLC links between SA objects.

2.Customize the symbol type to add one property, such as ONEOF (diagrams),  to show the relationship between this symbol and diagram.
