Pinned topic disk firmware on v7000u : "CMMVC5993E The specified upgrade package does not exist"

‏2013-11-17T10:53:08Z |

Hello,

I'd like to upgrade the firmware of my disk on a Storewize v7000u. It's not very clear :

http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/storwize/unified_ic/topic/com.ibm.storwize.v7000.unified.142.doc/ii_common_upgradedrivefirmware.html

I have to upload the package on the "/home/admin/upgrade" directory using scp. But the user "admin" doesn't know "scp" :

scp IBM2076_DRIVE_20131022 admin@xxxx:/home/admin/upgrade
"rbash: scp: command not found"

If I upload the file with the "root" user, I have to create the "/home/admin/upgrade" directory.

So basically, I'm uploading a file in a directory that doesn't exist with a command that isn't supported by the admin user. I think there's something wrong with this documentation.

And once the firmware package is where it is supposed to be (/home/admin/upgrade), with the correct permission for the user "admin", the upgrade command doesn't work :

applydrivesoftware -file IBM2076_DRIVE_20131022 -type firmware -drive 0
"CMMVC5993E The specified upgrade package does not exist."

I also uploaded the firmware package with the v7000u web interface but it cannot be found by the "applydrivesoftware" command.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks.

NicolasC, you need upload through SCP from host system (Windows, Linux, AIX) where you download drive upgrade bundle to IP address of V7000 cluster. Not from V7000 CLI itself.

After scp you need use "applydrivesoftware -file IBM2076_DRIVE_20131022 -type firmware -drive 0" from v7000 cli.

I was trying to upload the firmware package to the v7000u management IP address instead of the v7000 management IP. I thought everything was centralized on the NAS interface but in this case I had to to it on the SAN.

    scp IBM2076_DRIVE_20131022 superuser@yyyy:/home/admin/upgrade is much better !!

    Problem solved.
