Pinned topic Unable to create Visual Studio process VisualStudio.DTE.9.0 error for VS 2010 project

‏2013-04-25T13:21:31Z |

We have a VS2010 project. We try to scan it with AppScan Source 8.6 and get "Unable to create Visual Studio process VisualStudio.DTE.9.0" error. http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21424206 technote says VS 2008 project should give this error message but our project is developped with VS2010 by usimng .net framework version 4.0

Did anyone had any problems like that?

I am seeing the same issue with Visual Studio 2012 Pro (on a C# project compiled for .NET 3.5).

    Hello,

This issue can also appear if the launching credentials do not have permission to spawn VS DEV.

To workaround this, try launching Source with Administrator permissions.

    Hi Donnv,

AppScan Source did not support VS 2012 until v8.8.  If you were using an earlier version, please upgrade to a supported version.

If this still fails, please see my workaround in the earlier reply on this thread.

Have the same issue , using the AppScan .. error pops up with DTE 8.0 error (microsoft internal error)...unable to scan the project

Since the project files was developed using VS 2010, still wondering about the resolution of the issue.

    Tried the IBM link ..

    http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21424206

    It doesn't work for me,,,

Any updates about the issue ...!!!

    Hello,

Regarding the devenv.exe launch and internal errors received.  There are two solutions I have used in the past to resolve this issue.

1.) AppScan Source will not spawn devenv.exe for Visual Studio Express edition. You must use Professional or Ultimate to enable AppScan Source Scan capabilities.

2.) Prior to scanning the solution, be sure you can open the solution within Visual Studio in it's current installed version. (Migrate the Solution to the installed release to resolve any version inconsistencies).  After the migration is complete, be sure to set a default web server or use local files as IIS or IIS Express Web Server. After configuring the Default Web Server, Configure the solution to leverage the configured Web Server.

     - In Visual Studio 2012, Open the Solution Projects Properties, Select Web Tab, select Use Visual Studio Development Server (be sure to select radio button to apply for all users (store in project file).

    Thanks for the reply..

    1.  I am using Visual Studio Premium Edition 2010, and the same error pops up...even if we run in Admin mode..

    2. Since the Project (solutions files ) are developed using the same edition, the conversion windows didn't appear for us.

But still facing DTE 8.0 error in AppScan Security Source for Analysis...

Is there any fixes available for  AppScan. 8.0.0.2 ..? or any other solution would be much appreciated..

    Hello,

Is it possible previouse releases of VS are intalled? If so, you should check the user/system paths for previous devenv.exe locations. This binary name is the same for all releases. It's possible an older version is being picked up.

The following map shows DTE9.0 is not associated with VS 2010

"DTE.9.0" corresponds to: Visual Studio 2008

Here is a good link around this subject:
