Pinned topic TEDA installation

‏2013-05-30T16:15:01Z |

Hi all,

I'm planning to install the TEDA acclerator and the info center for Streams 3.0 talks about installing DB2 9.7 but Streams 3.0 is shipped with DB2 10.1 I believe. Does anyone have a document or updated instructions on the installation of the TEDA accelerator with DB2 10.1? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Regards,

-Naveen.

    Hello Naveen,

The updated instructions that reference DB2 10.1 can be found in the Streams 3.1 Information Center.

The specific link you are looking for is here...

    Hi Jason,

Thank you. But the Streams 3.1 Info Center still mentions DB2 9.7 and not DB2 10.1. I do not understand as to why the product is shipped with 10.1 but the instructions are for 9.7. I'm pasting the specific URL for convenience:

    http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/streams/v3r1/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.swg.im.infosphere.bigdata.teda.doc%2Fdoc%2Facc_teda_install_plan_installdb.html

    Best,

    -Naveen.

    Hello Naveen,

In the above link you posted there are specific instructions for installing DB2 version 10.1 under steps 1 and 2 like...

    -----

If you downloaded version 10.1, run the following commands:

        cd /root/sw
        tar xzvf DB2_10_VERSION_XXX.tar.gz

    -----

If these are not the 10.1 instructions you are looking for please let me know.

    Best Regards,

    Jason

    Hi Naveen, Hi Jason,

    sorry for joining so late.

    @Naveen:

When you install DB2 be aware to install a custom version and

contain development tools, as TEDA needs some of DB2's header files.

Don't use the typical installation, please.

    @Jason:

Probably not the right forum here, but I thought there was an agreement

that as long as TEDA is used as is and not changed we were allowed to

go with the delivered DB2 w/o purchasing more licenses?

Game changes as soon as TEDA is adapted, though ...

    Kind regards

    Norbert

    Hello again Naveen,

One thing I wanted to mention... the DB2 product shipped with Streams is intended for use as a recovery database only.  You will need a separate license to use DB2 with TEDA.

    Best Regards,

    Jason

Ahhh!!! Just saw this. I already installed DB2 using the typical installation. Also, the instructions on the following page are not updated for DB2 10.1 because if you already did the DB2 installation using the "console" option, then all the users/groups would've already been created.

    http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/streams/v3r1/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.swg.im.infosphere.bigdata.teda.doc%2Fdoc%2Facc_teda_install_plan_configuredb.html

Does anyone have updated instructions for configuring DB2 10.1 after the install?

    Hi,

Thank you for your feedback regarding the V10.1 DB2 installation console option. We will investigate the issue.

We do include topics in the Information Center regarding selecting the DB2 custom installation option and configuring DB2 10.1. Please let me know if you run into any additional issues.

    Thanks!
