Pinned topic IBM Rational License Server with Options file

‏2013-07-29T20:56:10Z |

Hi,

I have installed the Rational License Server so that clients with Rational Functional Tester can get a floating license key. On de license server I have the file "rational_server_perm.dat" with the following text (just a fragment of course):

SERVER MYSERVER xxxxxx 27000
VENDOR ibmratl port=27009 OPTIONS="C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\RationalRLKS\common\ibmratl.opt"
INCREMENT ibmrft ibmratl 7.00000 permanent 1 .................

In the same directory I have an Options file with the name "ibmratl.opt". Within this file I have the following text:

HOST_GROUP MyComputers COMPUTER1 COMPUTER2
INCLUDE HOST_GROUP MyComputers

The Options file should make sure that only COMPUTER1 and COMPUTER2 could get a floating license for RFT and not COMPUTER3. But when I start RFT on COMPUTER3 I do get a floating license... So it looks like my file is not working for some reason. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Thanks in advance!

    Hi there,

Thanks for posting your question in the forum.

It looks like the option file you provided does not contain the feature name as of which license is defined for the HOST_GROUP to be INCLUDEd.

You may want to try the following:

    HOST_GROUP MyComputers COMPUTER1 COMPUTER2
    INCLUDE ibmrft HOST_GROUP MyComputers

Please restart the license server after changed the option file.

Please let me know if this helps.

    Thank you,

    Cynthia

It looks like that fixed my problem! So I need to include the feature name of the client software that want to receive a license from my license server... Thank you so much for your help!
