Pinned topic IBM IT 5.1 Fails to Initialize brand new disks

‏2012-01-18T23:47:53Z |
 Hello,

Was just trying the newest IBM Installation Toolkit (ver 5.1) with RHEL 6.2 on Power 7 with a DS5020 providing LUNs through VIO.  With LUNs that have never been initialized, but the IBM IT install process fails after the reboot and just before the install should begin with :

At this point, the user can select one of the options, but none of them allow the installation to proceed.  On the same hardware, IBM IT 5.0 and RHEL 6 worked fine.  Did I miss something here or have I found a bug of some sort?  I used  the default options for everything up to this point in the IT.

Thank you,

Robert

     Robert,

Thank you for bringing up the problem. The IBMIT team is already investigating your issue.

One small question, if you have time to: Have you, by any chance, tried installing RHEL 6.2, from IBMIT, but with the LUNs already initialized ?

     Hi,

From my testing, it seems to work perfectly otherwise with the LUNs initialized.  I simply connected them to another existing partition with Linux already running and ran pvcreate against each one.  I assume that updates the header on the disk enough to get around the problem.

    Thank you,
