Flashes (Alerts):  IBM Spectrum Scale (GPFS) V5.0.0.0 through 5.0.2.3: Off-line fsck repair on a file system with more than 32 sub-blocks per block may incorrectly repair duplicate reference corruptions, resulting in possible undetected data corruption or possible data loss

Abstract

IBM has identified an issue in IBM Spectrum Scale V5.0.0.0 through V5.0.2.3 code levels, in which off-line fsck repair on a file system with more than 32 sub-blocks per block may incorrectly repair duplicate reference corruptions. This may result in undetected data corruption or in deletion of valid data blocks (data loss). Note that this issue can occur only for file systems created at IBM Spectrum Scale V5.0.0.0 level (file system version 18.00) or later.
