Pinned topic DB2 Field Procedure

‏2013-10-08T16:16:29Z |

Attempting to use Kent Milligan's example in 'Enable Transparent Encryption with DB2 Field Procedure' to understand the use and abilities of DB2's Field Procedure.

I have created the Free Form RPG program and registered it to a test table.  Using DFU I have entered some data and displayed with DSPPFM, RUNQRY, and SQL.  All present the decoded values correctly.

My question, is there a way to display the encoded values, possibly thru SQL ?

If not, how does one verify that the encoding is working the way it is expected to work ?

Thank You,

Bill Poulin

You could set a breakpoint in your FieldProc program at the end of the Encoding call.  There's also another way, you can send an email to: rchudb@us.ibm.com

    Kent,

Thank You for the reply.  I have already attempted to Start Debug and set a breakpoint, then use RUNQRY against the table, but I received a CPI1901 - Breakpoint received in secondary thread.

What must I do to allow the breakpoint to work on a secondary job ?

I have also sent an email to rchudb@us.ibm.com.

    Thanks,

What you need to do is start up another (second) interactive job; use STRSRVJOB (in the second job) to service your first job; STRDBG in your second job; run DSPPFM statement in your first job; and you should then get the breakpoint in your second job.

    Kent,

That process seems to be working for me.

    Thanks,
