Pinned topic Server 7979-B1G ( x3650 ) - Shutdown unexpected

‏2013-08-30T16:37:05Z |

Hi,
We have 3 7979-B1G servers, the one with problems is a mission critical server.

from the sudden one server has randoms shutdowns.

My questions are:

1 - Is there any way for me to get the DSA log from the windows system?
2- Anyone has had the same problem? if so what solved the problem?

3- The server also gives the fan led error ( all the fans are working and both fans from the PSU's are working).
I removed fans from other server and put in the one with the problem, on one socket all fans show failed state. any clue for this issue?

4 - Can i move the disks to the other server ( do i need to create the arrays? )

Sincerely,
Alex. M.

    Dear Alex,

    1. use DSA Portable Edition for Windows for collect DSA log.

       IBM Dynamic System Analysis (DSA)
       http://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/docdisplay?lndocid=SERV-DSA

    2. I saw sometimes such problem and every time solution was different (OS patch, update drivers, update firmware, fix configuration, replace failed part).

    3. lets check DSA log for problem details investigation. Post DSA log.

    4. if the same RAID controller used, then yes, you can. Just move disks and controller will import configuration from disks.

Thanks you Alexander fo the quick reply.

At friday night i try to get the DSA from the server but it shutted down before i could retrieve it.

So saturday morning i exchanged the disks with the other server and for now all critical services are working well.

Now i also get two fans with the Orange led on, they are running, but it gives the warning and all of them are running full throttle.

The other server array is not working very well on the problematic server it didnt boot ( Raid 5 Windows 2012 ) but the volumes were detected on the controller. I think i had to update  BIOS, firmware ...etc .... i didnt spent to much time on it.

I will get the DSA for you  monday morning.

Is there any tool to facilitate the Reading of the DSA log file?

      Sincerely,

      Alexandre Monteiro

        Hi Alexandre,

you can use the same DSA tool for extract resulted log file to html code. Read the DSA readme file for details.
